Yesterday Service / Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I open an account with Yesterday Service?
All you need to do is place an order. Credit cards are required for orders from individuals.

3. Can I pay with a credit card
Yes, we now take all major credit cards.

4. Does Yesterday Service sell gift certificates
Yes, we do. Getting a gift certificate is just like placing an order. We can customize it, too; just ask.

5. Do you ever have special sales
Not at this time. Stay tuned for developments.

6. Can I have something billed to one address and shipped to another
Sure - just ask. Please be prepared to give complete and accurate information for both addresses.

7.How long does it take to get my music?
That depends on a variety of factors. 1. Your needs, 2. Availability, 3. Shipping costs. Always be sure to tell us by  what date you need your music! If the music is in stock here, or at the publisher, it can be in your hands as fast as overnight, if you're willing to pay for overnight shipping. If the music has to be ordered or imported, delivery times can vary from a few days to several years (rare). For a rough estimate: a standard, no-rush order takes about two to three weeks in the continental United States.

8. What do I do if there's a problem with my order
Please contact us immediately for assistance at (781) 641-0951. We like to keep our customers happy.

9. Why can't I get just a single part -for example, the first violin part from a quartet, or just the piano part from a flute and piano duet?
Unfortunately, music is not sold that way. Chamber music (including duos) comes in complete sets only.

10. Can I get older pop tunes from Yesterday Service?
As a rule, no. We handle currently available classical sheet music. But if the older popular music you want is still in print, and if you are willing to buy a collection when no single sheet is available, then we can supply a limited amount of older pop music. If we can't supply what you want, we will try to direct you to someone who can.

11. Can I buy a bunch of music on perusal and return what I don't need?
Sorry, no. Every time music is shipped, there is a risk of wear and tear, and it soon becomes impossible to sell.

12. Can I return music I've bought if I just don't like it ?
Sorry, no. If we sent what you asked for, and it arrived in good condition, we cannot take it back. We try to help you avoid this situation from the start.

13. Do you accept used music in trade
No - we don't deal in used music at all.

14. Do you sell instruments and accessories ? How about recordings
No. We are exclusively a sheet-music dealer. Our parent company, Cambridge Music Center, sells guitars and guitar sheet music -- including popular music.

15. I heard this great piece ...
Sigh...
The fact that there is a recording or a live performance of a piece does not necessarily mean that the piece is currently in print anywhere. Ask us to try to find the piece, and we will try ; but often, a recording has been made from a deceased composer's originals, or from special arrangements for the artist, or from editions that are no longer in print, none of which we can obtain. It's wonderful that you can get recordings, but for reasons beyond our control, we cannot always supply print publications to match. Oh, well.

16. Why is music so expensive?
The long answer: copyright licensing fees (See Copyright and You.), paper costs, editing and other production costs, storage, shipping, and promotion. The short answer: because it is.

17. Can I order online??
Yes. Please direct orders to yesterdy@speakeasy.org. Please make your order as specific as possible, including your full name, address, phone number, credit card information ( if this is your first order). On all orders give need by date (of course the sooner you need it the more expensive the shipping becomes. It pays to not procrastinate.) Also give specific edition (if known), and the price above which you want to be notified before the order is finalized.
